Grounding Exercise Stand with your feet flat on the ground, arms hanging loosely at your sides. Angle your hands so that your palms are parallel with the ground. Maintain good posture. (If you must sit, be sure your feet are flat on the ground and your ankles are not crossed. Do everything else the same.)

Breathe deeply through your nose. Fill your lungs all the way down to your pelvis. Hold the breath a few seconds, and then breathe out slowly through your mouth, imagining yourself sinking into the earth. Repeat three times as you:

Imagine roots growing from your feet and your palms and traveling deep into the earth.

Imagine the excess energy in your mind, body and spirit flowing down through those roots into mother earth.

If you feel extremely disconnected or “floaty”, imagine there is a belt around your waist attached to lines securing you to the earth. Energy will flow down these lines to anchor you.

Hold this position for as long as you feel the need.

When you feel calm and relaxed, take a deep breath and exhale. Flex your fingers, arms and shoulders to rouse your body. Lift your feet to bring your roots back into your feet.

Continue with your normal activities, feeling refreshed and centered.
